Summit County Local Work Group Meeting Announced​

​The Summit County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) are pleased to announce an upcoming Local Work Group (LWG) Meeting open to all agricultural stakeholders and producers in Summit County.
Meeting Details
Date: Wednesday, May 20, 2026
Time: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Location: Russell Pry Building, 1180 S. Main St., Akron, Ohio 44301
Purpose
The purpose of this annual LWG meeting is to set local conservation priorities and bring conservation stakeholders together to discuss topics and issues relevant to helping Summit County farmers and private landowners better conserve natural resources. Attendees are encouraged to share their technical and educational assistance needs related to:
●Forestry
●Row Crops
●Pasture & Grazing
●Specialty Crops
Information discussed and gathered at this meeting will help maintain the quality of technical assistance and may be utilized by USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service in future conservation efforts.

Election Results

As a result of a recent election held by The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission for the election of Supervisors of the Summit County Soil and Water Conservation District, two supervisors were elected to a three-year term commencing January 1, 2026 and ending December 31, 2028.

Summit Soil and Water Conservation District is excited to support local and regional native plant sales! This spring, many Soil and Water Conservation Districts will host native plant sales, offering a variety of herbaceous plants, groundcovers, shrubs, and trees to enhance your landscape.
