Election Notice
The Ohio Soil and Water Conservation Commission will cause an election of Supervisors of the Summit County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) to be held in accordance with Chapter 940 of the Ohio Revised Code. Individuals who own or occupy land within the Summit County Soil and Water Conservation District and are 18 years of age or older may vote for Supervisor.

- At the SWCD office, 1180 S. Main Street, Suite 230 Akron, OH 44301, from 8/20/2025 until 9/17/2025 during normal business hours (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM); or
- At the SWCD Annual Meeting, which will take place at Sarah’s Vineyard, 1204 W. Steels Corners Road, Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223 on 9/18/2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00PM ; or
- Voting absentee from 8/20/2025 until 9/18/2025, by requesting the ballot application and election ballot from the SWCD office at the following address 1180 S. Main Street, Suite 230, Akron, OH 44301, by calling 330-926-2445, or email [email protected]. Absentee ballots must be received by the SWCD office before 9/18/2025 at 8:00 AM.

Ana Burns
Ana Burns is the Senior Area Manager of Environmental Services for Davey Resource Group’s northern Ohio office. She received an M.S.E.S. in Applied Ecology degree from Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs and holds a B.S. in Biology, from Indiana University. She is a graduate of Leadership Akron Signature Class 41. Her team at Davey provides environmental consulting services including ecological consulting, ecosystem restoration, and urban and community forestry consulting. Ana is responsible for business development, client and project management, and supervision of more than 50 biologists, restoration ecologists, and urban foresters working out of DRG’s main environmental consulting office located in Kent. Ana has over 25 years of experience in the natural resources and ecological restoration fields. She has managed a variety of ecological surveys and environmental planning studies, as well as ecological and wetlands permitting projects, mitigation bank planning and monitoring projects, and natural resource restoration design projects. She is knowledgeable of state and federal stream and wetlands regulations and stormwater management. Ana has coordinated and facilitated public meetings and hearings and has assisted in developing various planning documents, including greenways planning, watershed planning, and urban forestry management plans. With a background in urban and rural planning, she is well versed in working with planning commissions, steering committees, and local political groups. Ana is the vice-president of Tinker’s Creek Watershed Partners and is on the board of directors for the Ohio Stormwater Association and Keep Akron Beautiful. She also serves on the District 8 (Summit County) Natural Resource Assistance Council. |
Rob Curtis
Rob Curtis is a veteran field biologist and lifelong resident of the region. A student of the outdoors since childhood, he has a deep understanding of ecology and a passion to protect our natural heritage. Rob has a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife management from The Pennsylvania State University and has been faithfully serving the community for more than 20 years with Summit Metro Parks, where as Ecological Supervisor he manages 15 staff and is responsible for natural area evaluation, protection, and restoration. Prior to his employment with the park district, he worked for six years as a Wetland Ecologist for EnviroScience, Inc. in Stow, as well as for several other private and public conservation agencies. His most recent venture includes serving his first term as a board supervisor for Summit SWCD, for which he seeks reelection. Rob is respected by his peers throughout the region and is active in several state and local conservation efforts. He is a founding member of Lake Erie Allegheny Partnership (LEAP) for Biodiversity (leapbio.org). He and his wife Natasha reside in Tallmadge and have spent 30 years living and working in Summit County raising three children. |
Doug Marcum
Doug Marcum is an ecologist who has worked for the National Park Service for nearly 15 years. He has an MS in ecology from Kent State University, where he studied mammal communities in the scope of land conservation and habitat succession. Most of his professional duties with the park service involve conducting inventories and monitoring of natural resources, primarily wetlands and plant communities. During his career, Doug has also worked on wetland, stream, and habitat restoration projects as a technician, providing a first-hand perspective on what it takes to achieve restoration goals. Doug's primary interest in soil and water conservation stems from his core beliefs that humans have a responsibility to steward the land and to conserve resources for future generations. In his free time Doug enjoys homesteading and spending time with his family, especially his wife and daughter. |
