Matt Knittel
Matt joined Summit SWCD in January of 2025 as an Outreach Coordinator. His responsibilities include assisting communities with public involvement and educational outreach to meet their objectives outlined by stormwater management permits. This includes engaging outreach to schools and the general public on a variety of topics centered around keeping our soil and water healthy and clean.
Prior to joining SWCD, Matt spent over 10 years as a Naturalist with the Cleveland Metroparks at the Watershed Stewardship Center, educating students and the general public about keeping our soil and water healthy and clean. Matt received his BS in Environmental Science from Allegheny College, and his Masters in Natural Resources and the Environment with a focus in Aquatic Sciences from “that school up North”, the University of Michigan. On his time off, Matt enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, cycling, bikepacking, kayaking, sitting around a fire with friends and his dog, and his collection of board games. Matt’s favorite Best Management Practice are rain gardens. What can be better than native plants, helping to reduce the flow of runoff, providing food and habitat for native pollinators, and keeping our soil and water healthy and clean.
